For my news writing class, I had to go some where I had never been before and write about it. I found this cool vintage store called Coal Umbrella on Center Street. I think Coal Umbrella is like a ritzy thrift store. I think I could find similar clothes at thrift stores and save $10-$20 on one item.
However, I do appreciate Coal Umbrella for its uniqueness. The walls and floors are the original walls and floors from 100 years ago. The whole store makes me want to remodel my room to look just like it.
After talking to Maht Paulos, the co-owner of the store with his wife, I have to say I really appreciate what he has done. He really likes the vintage stlye and he wants to make it available for others.
One of my favorite parts of the store is the art that is displayed. Every month or so, Coal Umbrella features a different artist. People can place a silent bid on the art and the high bidder gets the artwork. It is a great way for new artists to get recognized.
