Time for a move

Dear 8 followers of mine:
I am moving in more than one sense. First, I am moving states. I am returning to the state I call the state of my heritage, knowledge, and friends. Yes, I'm going back to Utah. Second, I am moving up in the world. As of a couple months ago, I am a junior in college. I am an upper class man for the 2nd time in my life. Third I am moving blogging sites. I'm sorry to inconvenience you 8 followers, but you will need to bookmark my new page at http://audrey22.tumblr.com if you plan on further following me virtually.

Forgotten Hidden Haunted Mansion

Right now I should be doing my job. I should be cleaning the backyard, lounge and trash. But I don't want to. I'll do it later or yeah in a minute.
These days, at least once a day, consist of Jennie and I spending some good ole time together. Yesterday she rode on the handlebars of my bike, we played cards together, we sang miley cyrus songs together while I played them on the guitar, we played on the computer together, and we found some pictures she took from about a year ago.
Let us start off with the only happy picture we found. We wanted to make this picture as happy as possible to semi balance out the pictures coming up, thus the extreme fake sky.
Last summer our family took a road trip to South Dakota. Who would have thought behind an Exxon lives this beauty.
Now, can you say "real haunted house"? Real haunted house. Good job. Yes this is a real haunted house.
Ok, I don't really know if it was haunted, but if I was a ghost with an unresolved death, I would definitely hang out here.

Whatever I want

I am beginning to see why people like photo editing. Basically, you can make the picture be whatever you want, related or not to real life. I might go as far as thing photo editing is a type of therapy. At least it has helped me get through some of my toughest times these last couple of days.

Remember the nickelodeon little kid show "Macey?" Macey is a mouse who lives in a weird world with green and purple skies and red and aqua grass. Her friends are alligators, bears, cockroaches and who knows what else. They don't ever say any words in this children's show, all they do is squeak or mumble or blab. I'm pretty sure the point of this show is to brainwash the future of America that it is ok to think outside of the box, or be weird, or have your own brain or something like that.

All I know is that just like the purple skies and red grass in Macey's world, with a little help from photoshop, you can master the same thing and let your creativity flow. Warning: I do not recommend to start speaking is squeaks, mumbles or blabs, I guess most don't consider that creative art yet.

Basically, what I'm getting at is that I took some pictures this last week, edited them, calmed myself, watched Macey the mouse, and then felt fine about life.

This picture is my least favorite and my mothers favorite. I don't know if I am just missing my childhood or something, but I feel like that sign should say "Welcome to Sesame Street."

Sand, sand, glorious sand

Alright- actually I did nothing glorious with the sand. I tried to build a sandcastle, but then I got bored and not very many people wanted to help me and so I just made a really packed down pile of sand. However, some might consider that pretty glorious.

Here are some more stories that most would consider glorious. I ate fruit, sandwiches and cookies under an umbrella on the beach. My sister, my cousins, my brother, and a friend- we all made a pyramid on the beach. Somehow I ended up on the bottom in the middle.
We stood out in the waves and practiced our floating techniques. If you did not know, floating in ocean water is a little bit easier than swimming pool water. We stood in a line and jumped as high as we could while my mother took our picture. Also we fed seagulls. The end.

Girls Camp 2009

Life is a success when camp edgewood (girls camp) is included. Here are a couple great things that happened. I climbed the rock wall while carrying on a conversation with my bay-layer and then I jumped from the zip line with no fear.I went swimming in the lake and a fish that was who knows how big, tried to eat me. Ok, it was probably only a couple inches big and i think it just wanted me to scratch him behind his ears, but still.
Also, we had one of the best planned and executed water balloon ambushes known to man. This included me hiding under a bridge with four water balloons in my hands for about 30 minutes and then attacking the priesthood with no sympathy.
Camp Edgewood is my favorite for a couple of reasons but the main one is Ranger Ro and Patsy that run the camp and their daughter Leslie. Some of the best people ever who will like you if you include them in on a prank and will love you if you send them a picture in the mail.
I decided girls camp is a place for girls.

The first thing I did was change into shorts

First of all, I came home to Houston:
I discovered a new talent I have, it is called sleeping while sitting up in public and not realizing it until much too late. I have fallen asleep every day like this since I came on home to this wonderful town called Friendswood.
Incident number one: on the plane ride home- I actually fell asleep at least four times on the plane ride- about every time Joyce- the loud stewardess, passed, I woke up (I think I put too many commas in there but it just sounds right to me). I think I was awake for a total of ten minutes the whole ride home. Once I was awake looking out the window as we were circling around preparing to land, and next thing I knew, I was awoken by my head bobbing up and down in my seat as the plane hit the runway. Incident number two: sacrament- only for a real short time, don't worry. Incident number three: riding in the car with my mom, I was awoken by my brother kindly placing his finger in my elbow pit, it's fine.

Here's how our family pictures turned out:
The missionaries told us we were the worst kids to have their picture taken. They don't understand.

household item + elephants = nothing better

I thought I would share one of the things that has brought me an abundance of joy in the last couple days.
This elephant is currently the wallpaper for my desktop at work and on my laptop. that is how much I like it. Why do I like is so? I'm not sure- all I know is that I catch myself staring at it at work, more than is healthy. I just realized today that it has an eye, how did I not see that before?

On top of they household item elephant, my mind has been thinking about a couple of other things lately:

  • Allergies- why they happen and why at morning and at night, every morning and every night
  • Tea Parties- this includes doilies, princess squares, crumpets, and parlors
  • My job- how great it is, really I have the best job ever. the things I end up complaining about are so little I laugh at myself.
  • Paranoia- sometimes I feel like everyone is looking and judging me all the time and I don't like it, not one bit. I'm not guilty of anything- I promise.
  • Finally developing as a high schooler- staying up way too late doing nothing, sleeping on top of my covers in my clothes, not brushing my teeth, having an urge to sneak out of the house. Yup, I like to do all of those things now. I think I will be 30 before I develop as a college student.

Exact Timing

I am trying this thing called clock in and out of work at exactly the right minutes. It is like a little game I play with myself. Kinda like the game that I play where I prentend like I am really poor and only eat cereal, or like the game where I try to make my bed every day.
Right now I have three minutes until I need to clock out.

the door handle broke

when door handles malfunction it can only happen for a couple of reasons.

either someone purposefully made those door handles malfunction (or go missing) because they don't want you to get through that door, or in that building. more specifically they might not have wanted you (and when i say you i mean me) to get in Friendswood High School. the reasons behind this are questionable, but it happened anyways.

another reason door handles break is because they are overly used. those poor little handles hang in there day after day and they have to pull that heavy door open and push it closed every day, it can get very stressful. then one day that door handle breaks off, and it rebells.

a third reason for door handle problems is because they were improperly used. you know what i mean, you tied them to a string and connected that string to something that seemed like a really good idea at the time but now that you think about it, it was not a smart decision. you probably connected that string to teeth, other door handles, bothers or sisters, pets, booty traps, and who knows what else.

this post is inspired by my car door handle that broke because of the second reason i listed. that poor little worn out spring inside the handle just could not take life anymore.

The Festival of Colors (aka please throw dirt in my face)

One time I went to this thing called the Festival of Colors. At this place, the way to have fun is to get powdered colored chalk on you, more specifically on your face.Ash understands how it works. However I did not. Stop, hammer time... never mind. Back to the story, I did not want people to throw the chalk in my face. My friends were like, throw it at her, and I was like, no it's ok you really don't have to, and I they were like, yes you do, and I was like no I really don't like smelly chemicals in my face, and they were like, "CROWD SURF!," and I was like, oh no, please no. Alright. This is where I pause and reflect. I can see from here that my writing is jostled, messy and nonsensical. Let me fix that.

My point is my friends would run up to people with chalk and want them to throw it at them, and when I did not behave this way, for some reason, I was the weird one. I don't understand it and I don't think I ever will.
To explain my crowd surfing outburst earlier, a gang of six to seven Indian guys, who probably put on this festival, picked innocent enough looking girls in the crowd and would say, "she is next" and next thing you knew, you would be on top of a crowd worrying about your shoes being stolen and thrown on top of the roof.

Anyhow, this happened to my roommate and me. After my three seconds spent crowd surfing I learned a valuable life lesson. If you don't want to crowd surf, don't lay flat, and then the one person holding you will only have two choices, 1. put you down or 2. throw you on the crowd.
Unfortunately, for me, the later happened to me; but fortunately for me (and the girls I was thrown on), I am gifted in falling and I managed to land on my feet with minimal physical contact with anyone else.

I know this post sounds sarcastic and negative, but I actually had a lot of fun at the festival. I would like to conclude that it was a four time better than the "typical Provo weekend." (Sometimes when you put things in quotations, you sound/look/feel/are more believable.)

Vivid Dreams

This semester I made decision to have all 8 0'clock classes. That means waking up pretty early. I have actually be pretty good about getting to my classes until recently. I have been waking up, eating breakfast, and then going back to sleep. Or I have been turning off my alarm and then going back to sleep. Or I have... well the point is I always end up going back to sleep and missing my early morning classes. I have been trying to get to the bottom of this problem ever since this morning when I missed both of my classes. I thought about reasons why I have missed classes before: I felt sick, I was tired, I had better things to do (like hand out with my sister), or I knew I was not doing anything of worth in my classes. After considering these reasons, I realize, none of them apply. I feel fine, have been going to bed early (like 10:30 early), I spend the time not in class blogging, and I have missed 2 quizzed and who knows what else in the last couple of days.

So, after deep thought, I came up with my solution: I have been dreaming realistic, vivid, movie, epic like dreams that have been so in depth they have kept me from even considering getting up for the real world. These dreams are so... I don't know how to describe it, entertaining but usually they end up bad... They are hard to describe. Here are a couple things from my dreams in the last two days:

Screwdrivers, baby toys, under the bed, crazy doctors, hives/barnicles, my whole family, talking stuffed animals/animals, petitions, good looking heros that don't actually save anything, a white crystal ball that can't be dropped, a witch, black magic, monsters, ships, abandoned, the P.E. coach from Even Stevens, a round gym, the marines...

Yeah, that's all I can think of right now. Someday I think I'll combine all my awesome dreams and write a book about them. Then I will become rich from my books and then it will not matter that I missed classes for a week. It will have been a good investment.

Megan. Party. D.I. Roommate. Birthday.

Recently, we celebrated my roommate's birthday. We had a D.I. themed birthday party and it was a lot of fun. First we had to get really good clothes from DI; we did this a week or so before the party. Then, after FHE one night, we ran home and had a good ole time. I made a cake with my cake decorating kit I got for my birthday. I am ashamed to say this is my first time to use it, but I think it was all put to good use.

The party consisted of eating cake, ice cream, red velvet cup cakes (thanks to Ashley) and chocolate chip cookies (thanks to Alicia). Other than the eating, we played oldies music and tried to be as cool as my friend Kurtis when it comes to dancing. We just did awkward or crazy dances that usually required the soul foot to be used.

One thing that I like these days: hanging paper cranes.

One thing that I don't like these days: bandaids, they are just gross, but not, very sanitary, but still gross.

One thing that I can fix these days: the drain to the bathtub.

One thing I am working on finishing these days: a "major-self assesment." aka: a 12 page paper describing who I think I am, who others think I am, how that equates, and how I am not adequate to self evaluate myself. It is very exhausting.

One thing I won today: a packet of post-it notes in my MCOMM 320 class. they are pale yellow with lines. I think they are supposed to inspire me to be better, and they just might.

The Secret Life of Bees: Review

How much do we value being loved in life? After watching The Secret Life of Bees, I would have to say a whole lot. I watched this movie for the first time this last month and I have to give it a perfect score. This movie made me laugh and cry and smile and be thankful. The main actors in this movie are so talented. I think Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Hudson did a remarkable job. Not to mention Sophie Okonedo, whose role made you feel so much pain for life in general.

When I judge a movie, I like to judge it on two factors, 1. How the movie makes me feel afterwards, and 2. If I want to buy the soundtrack afterwards. For example Hairspray makes me want to dance, Pride and Prejudice makes me want to fall in love and Catch Me if You Can makes me want to break the law. The Secret Life of Bees makes me want to count my blessings, write in my journal, and reflect in nature. I would have to say; it is a very uplifting movie, but only by the end. As far as the soundtrack goes, the official soundtrack is just the score. The actual songs in the movie are absolutely wonderful and if they had an unofficial soundtrack with the actual songs in the movie than I would buy it in a heartbeat. I might even watch the movie enough times until I can figure out the songs in the movie and then buy them.
Yes, that is how much I loved this movie. I will be reading the book soon.

Coal Umbrella

For my news writing class, I had to go some where I had never been before and write about it. I found this cool vintage store called Coal Umbrella on Center Street. I think Coal Umbrella is like a ritzy thrift store. I think I could find similar clothes at thrift stores and save $10-$20 on one item.

However, I do appreciate Coal Umbrella for its uniqueness. The walls and floors are the original walls and floors from 100 years ago. The whole store makes me want to remodel my room to look just like it.
After talking to Maht Paulos, the co-owner of the store with his wife, I have to say I really appreciate what he has done. He really likes the vintage stlye and he wants to make it available for others.
One of my favorite parts of the store is the art that is displayed. Every month or so, Coal Umbrella features a different artist. People can place a silent bid on the art and the high bidder gets the artwork. It is a great way for new artists to get recognized.

This is where I live...

Sometimes I really miss Texas. You know the humidity, the 50° F winters, the squirells, but as of late I am realizing Utah can be good too. This first picture is a sad attempt to capture 4-5 deer I saw one night. If you can't see it, just imagine a deer posing with a sassy little profile.
And this one is 100% no photo editing- pure blue sky, white snowy day.

Well you can't

So I'm just kinda sitting around not feeling like writing in this little ole blog, with the cursor blinking back and forth and me staring at it and me talking to my roommates and them talking to me and me watching Gilmore Girls and waiting for dinner to come to me...
Yup, I think that is about the closest representation of my life these days.
PS. I wrote the title in my subconscious so it says tons about me.

Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband

Saturday night I went and saw an amazing concert in the Wilk, Ryan Shupe & the Rubberband. They have real talent. After watching them, I'm pretty sure the each member of the band can play at least 3 instruments. Ryan Shupe switched from a violin, to a banjo, to a ukulele, to a guitar and also helped out with a base. Not to mention he also played the violin while singing and made it look really easy. Maybe I am just a nieve little girl when it comes to musicians, but they really impressed me. Now I want a cd, just saying.
My favorite band member would have to be the banjo-(ist?). Anyhow, he was pure talent and sweat. How can you get anything better than that? I'm not sure if after watching them, I have been inspired to become better at guitar or if it has just discouraged me becuase they where a totaly different leauge. Hmm, maybe I'll decide later.

A picture...

I took this picture a little before I got over my fairiswheel obsession last semester.

Give a Stranger a Coke Day

On Wednesday I left my class with an assignment to buy a stranger a coke, or a drink, or anything. So it took me a while to decide the what and where and who, but then on Friday night, it all worked out. I was in line to buy some stuff from Target with my roommate, Jo. I decided that the next person to choose checkout number 9 as their checkout was going to be the lucky winner. I grabbed a snickers bar and put it in my pile of things. Luckily, all went as planned because someone got in line after me. I bought the snickers bar and asked the cashier to hold on to it and give it to the sad lonely man behind me. She was a little confused about what I just asked her to do, but after I repeated myself three times and rephrased myself twice, she understood what was fate that night. Jo and I finished checking out, and took our positions far away from the register by the food court. I watched as the man was told by the cashier someone had bought the snickers bar and it was all his. Either that man got really happy because of it, or the cashier beefed up the story. Whatever happened, that man was a little bit more satisfied with life on Friday night and so was I.

this is it

for one of my classes this semester, I have been asked to make a blog and write in it weekly. my feelings about this? good i guess, I like reading in blogs and writing in them too. i have never been crazy about the idea that i should share all my personal thoughts and secrets online, but you got to do what you got to, right? also I hate anything to do with grammar so everyone just get over it now. I'll capitalize and spell correctly what i want when i want.
One goal i have for my blog is to include pictures because i have found that my favorite blogs have tons of pictures. so here is a blurry picture of a tea set that i made in my ceramics class. it was the only thing that i made that was pretty.
